Composer Charles 斯特劳斯 (pictured above, center) was an enthusiastic guest earlier this month for a performance 和 rehearsal of MSM 音乐剧’s production of his 1960 musical 再见，小鸟.
Mr. 斯特劳斯, 95, who co-wrote the show with book writer Michael Stewart 和 lyricist Lee Adams, said he was moved by the students’ commitment to the material, 和 he praised both the orchestra 和 the conducting by MSM 音乐剧 Music Director 大卫大声.
“It’s better than Broadway,” Charles 斯特劳斯 told his assistant after the show. He added that seeing the MSM production 和 attending one of its rehearsals was “a highlight of [his] life.”
MSM Dean of 音乐剧 莉莎热内罗 has a long relationship with Mr. 斯特劳斯 that began when her father, legendary choreographer Peter Gennaro, choreographed the composer’s 安妮, 和 继续d when she worked on the sequel, 安妮2.
“Having him visit MSM was a great thrill 和 an honor,” said Dean Gennaro after the performance. “Charles was extremely moved to hear the full orchestrations 和 our wonderful young musical theatre performers sing his songs. It was an emotional night.”

The composer was an invited guest by MSM 音乐剧 to watch a rehearsal of his musical 再见，小鸟 有完整的管弦乐队 Ades表演空间 2023年10月. He was very happy to attend with his assistants, 和 watched with great enthusiasm while sitting next to Dean of 音乐剧 莉莎热内罗.
